Job Bridge Engineering Positions Review

I'm hearing very mixed reviews about the Job Bridge scheme (or the more aptly named scam bridge scheme). I, for one, who has an engineering degree and currently works in retail, think the opportunity is a godsend. I see it as experience on the CV and I know too well that you can't buy experience.

I can see how the scheme has been frowned upon with companies offering positions such as 'cafe assistant' and 'kitchen assistant' which obviously is under paid labour. But what I want to know is do any of you have an engineering position review. I don't see how taking an engineering scheme could have any drawbacks for someone like me who to date has no industry experience bar college work placement.

I have been trying (and trying) and can't seem to land a graduate job and really feel like job bridge is my path forward.

P.S. I've done all the job bridge research and I've heard all the negativity...I'm just not buying it

I've read all the negativity about the scheme and people taking advantage offering positions which may not really add to the applicants experience (car valet, shelf stacking etc). I'm appalled at this and it really detracted from the purpose of the scheme.

On the flip side; I work in large engineering company and we've had a few jobbridge placements over the last 2 years. They get proper working experience and become a full member of the section with interesting technical responsibilities and tasks. We've offered a few full time position to some of the applicants upon completion of their internship. We would have a good history within the company of taking on students on work experience within their degree programme but now we're offering those summer internships to job bridge graduates to help them gain more valuable experience.

So I agree with you, if you can get a position in a reputable firm then it will really add to your CV and in a lot of cases that can be the only thing holding you back from getting a position (lack of experience).
    Good Luck

Thanks. Is your company willing to take on interns at their own expense? This is another avenue that I am beginning to explore. As I said I work in retail and would gladly take on work at my own expense.
