Canoeing/Kayaking - Belfast

Hi I'm living near Belfast and was wondering if anyone on here knew of a club where I could just turn up to try this?

I'm not a very good swimmer or comfortable in open expanses of water, but I thought that something slightly sedate would be manageable. Is this activity safe?

I've never tried it before, so I'm concerned about safety etc.

What is the concensus on the more fun activity - canoeing or kayaking and which is more safe?

    Thanks,
    FM.

    Try Clubfest http://www.cani.org.uk/?tabindex=127&tabid=3578 ,
it will give you a good taste for the sport. Clubfest has worked really well in the Dublin area. Failing that contact CANI and they will put you in touch with the relevant club or individual in you area.
    Good luck and enjoy.
