Letter Box at AIB Branch

Probably a stupid question here:

Just received my loan application papers and I need it processed ASAP. I've notice a small letter box at the side of my AIB branch for mail. I presume this is OK to use for public mail such as this?

I'm asking because I'm hoping this will speed up the process somewhat and seeing as I live right beside the branch, it seems pointless me posting the letter in an actual post box and it taking 2-3 working days for it to make it to the bank manager.
