    From the CAI website.

Countryside Alliance Ireland was saddened to hear of the passing of Philip Lawton last Friday 7th June 2013.

Philip was a great country sports enthusiast and worked tirelessly for the cause, along with his extensive work for the Irish Country Sports and Country Life magazine and the Irish Game and Country Fair at Birr Castle.

Philip will be sadly missed and we extend our sympathies to his wife, Margaret, children Stephen, Naomi and Catherine, and the entire family circle.

The funeral service will be tomorrow (Wednesday 12th June) at 12 noon in All Saints' Church, Phibsborough Road, Grangegorman, followed by cremation in Glasnevin.

Phillip was known by many readers of Countryside Weekly and Irish countryside magazine under his pen name of "Plus Twos" or "the Midlander"
A great chacter and easily spotted at many game fairs in his quintessential get up of peaked cap, tweeds and, plus twos.

The legend of the day he spotted Bernie Wright in one of the game fair tents on some secret mission.Hailing her loudly he introduced her to all and sundry of the shooting and fox hunting folks and offered her tea!! One of the best outs ever done by a true gent with a lot of class.

He will be sadly missed by me..Fair weather for your last voyage.:(

Sadly I have just heard of the death of Philip Lawton, may he rest in peace. A true gentleman, sportsman, former member of DTSC and great story teller, he could hold one in awe listening to him speak.

Sorry to see you go, in sport and friendship.

    Your friend.
