You'll get form, via post, which will have to be filled, signed and youll have to copy your license and send over the post.

You will receive information through the post. If they ask for a copy of your licence you will need to post a copy of the front and back to them. Generally they will include an envelope with address and postage already paid but not always. Nor do they always ask for a copy of your licence. You should receive all documentation needed, including a proposal form which you'll have to sign and send back anyway. After all that, if everything is fine, you will be sent an insurance certificate along with your disc attached.

i believe will have to color copy front and back, and post to them. once i've been asked scan license and email to. i think insurance is valid from time you were requested.

Yes you will be insured immediately if they state this but should it be the case that all was not as described, you will have cover withdrawn.

Yes you will be covered from the time/date you had specified when you pay. Even if it turns out that you had wrong information etc at the very least you will have 3rd party insurance.

+1 to this. I have sent emails containing a scan of my licence without problems.

You can scan and email a copy of the license. What they will be more interested in receiving, if it applies to the policy, is a certificate of no claims. They usually will not accept a copy of this so an original from your previous insurer will need to be sent by post.

Me too, I mailed a photo of the back and front of the licence.

None of my private insurers have ever asked for any proof of licence, and all bar one have accepted scanned emails of NCD.

What insurers are people using that are unable to accept email?
