Upgrading to SSD on my latop

I have a MSI GX660R with the two original 500GB harddrives in Raid 0 (i think, they come up as two hard-drives in the computer , C and D, but transfer is a lot faster than it normally would be). I'm considering upgrading the hard-drive to SSD, namely this Intel 520 SSD (it has to be an intel brand ssd, there are compatibility issues between other ssds and this laptop's bios). My questions:

    1) Do I "turn off" raid before removing the C drive? Or can I just remove it, put in the SSD?
    2) I plan on leaving the D drive in the laptop for storage (pretty much what its used for know). When I remove the C drive and raid is lost, will that effect the D drive? Will it get formatted or might it lose data?
    3) When I put in the SSD, that should be setup in AHCI mode right? IDE mode wont give the full benefit from the SSD? (this is something I have seen discussed in forums which discuss non-intel SSDs not working with the 660R).

    Thanks.
