I currently travel 60 miles return to work 5 days a week.
My 2L car does 32mpg average so want to replace it but what with?

Have a budget of 8000 euros, would prefer a car post 2008 to avail of cheaper road tax and mpg above 50mpg or 60mpg. Diesel or petrol.
    Any suggestions are most welcome,
    thanks

I have an 08 Ford Focus Estate 1.6 TDCi that I purchased in July 2011 with 137000km on clock. I find it very good. 55 mpg every time(approx 1000 km on a full tank). Tax is €200 for the year (it was only €104 when I first purchased). I have had no problems with it so far. I get it serviced regularly. There is currently 223000km on clock. I paid €9500 when I bought so you should be able to get one now for €8000.

The renault megane 1.5dci seems to have good mpg, are they reliable or typical french car with problems?
