Health Psychology- Employment in Ireland?

Hi all, i'm going into my 2nd year of my B.A Psychology degree in NUI Maynooth and I am taking Health Psychology as an optional module. I'm very interested in the concepts and applications of Health Psychology in the Medical workplace and have read many articles, journals and books introducing the specialism to students.

It is, given everything goes to plan, my intention to pursue a M.Sc in Health Psychology upon completion of my Psychology degree. However, I have recently realised that I do not notice any Health Psychologists working in the HSE. My sister is a full time member of a Nursing staff in a Major Hospital and as far as she is aware, positions for Health Psychologists are not available in Irish Hospitals.

Is this the case all over the country? Is there no jobs available for graduates with MSc's/PhD's in Health Psychology in Ireland? Or will there be any openings in the future?

Thanks for any help in advance, i'm fairly new to this forum, so I hope I posted in a way that is appropriate!

    Thanks again guys! :)

One of my classmates was interested in this because she had a medical background. iirc, her final year project supervisor worked in and was a researcher in this area. I could be wrong, but the general vibe was that this specific discipline is not particularly developed in Ireland. You may have to look abroad.

ETA, OK, there's a health psych division in the PSI, they would be more informed than I as to what's happening and available.

Thanks a mill for the advice/link!

Do you mind me asking in what University was this?

TCD. My classmate's supervisor was Dr. David Hevey.

Thanks so much! Sorry for the late reply! I've been researching it a bit lately and apparently there is only 500 Health Psychologists in the UK, so maybe the specialism will have expanded by the time I get my degree and hopefully masters finished (2016). Just seems Ireland is still in the past of yesteryear where Psychology opportunities are involved!
