Ubuntu desktop

    Im trying to download ubuntu desktop on my vm virtual box and after the whole process when it says "finished pls restart" and it then says

    "Windows has found a problem" and I have to abort it.

    Which is giving the error, the host (the physical computer VirtualBox is running on) or the guest (the software running inside the VM)?

    EDIT: I think I've answered my own question, I'll assume it's the host. Has the host been giving you any other trouble lately i.e. random slowdowns or infections? Does VirtualBox run other VM's without trouble?

    Yes ubuntu server works fine on the virtual box but the desktop iso dose not it says windows encounter problem when its finished, strange

    Yeah, it should be under the "display device" or "video card" or similar.

    Alternatively, to change your ubuntu server vm into an ubuntu desktop one, (maybe clone it first then ) run:

    sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

    That will take a while. Then reboot the vm.

    Glad you got sorted. You may need to up the amount of RAM that you have given to the VM in virtualbox. The server needs a lot less RAM than the desktop.
