What is the basic weekly training allowance paid to trainee accountants?

    I qualified as an Accounting Technician over 2 years ago but I have never worked a day in an accountancy firm and I have zero experience.

    I was hoping to undertake a training contract with one of the big accounting firms in the north-west. I have done a good bit of reading on the CAI website but I cannot find any information indicating what the weekly training allowance is.

    Also I would like to know - does the firm or partnership hiring you under a trainee ship have to pay all you course fees/exam fees etc because there is no way that I could afford them on my own.


    Any info much appreciated.

    In the case of CAI they will pay your fees etc. The big four usually take on graduates with first class or 2.1 degrees. They usually pay low 20s.

    Salaries will vary depending on the firm you get... (if any)

    None of the big 4 currently operate in the Northwest.

    Back in 2006 when I was starting out I'd a few friends in Gilroy Gannon in Sligo. Starting salaries then were around the 12-14k mark. Doubt they have increase by much TBH.
