Iphone 4s No reception.

    Hi all,

Have an Iphone 4s 32GB. Got slighty imersed in water for a matter of milliseconds, rescued and turned off, removed Sim, into bowl of rice and into hot press. Left for a week...!

Turned on week later, seemed perfect, all functioning. All expect dodgy reception. Now it barely has one bar of reception where other Iphones have 3/4 but mostly loses reception if not making a call. But in same location when making a call, it holds the signal and never loses it... It seems when on standby waiting for a call etc it loses signal but when locked on a signal during phone call it seems to hold...

The obvious problem is once signal goes on standby, it stays gone and I miss calls/msgs etc..

Interestingly outdoors it holds signal OK, maybe down one bar compared to other Iphones.

Has been sent off to remove any corrosion, but the specialist said there was very very minor corrosion. It is out of warranty with Apple..

Any ideas what the problem might be and more importantly a solution...? New antennae circuit? Also read up about this Blue Inductor that can fail leading to low signal pick-up....

Also any Ideas what Apple would charge to remedy the problem...?

    Thanks in advance....

I did indeed and updated to the latest IOS 6.1.3 as advised by an Apple Rep over the phone. My guess its a hardware problem..

Its just something so small, the fact that it holds the signal once a call is in progress but on standby it loses the signal...

Anyone know who might be able to help and what the problem might be??

Or if any one can direct me to a website for ordering the antenna/speaker assembly. Think I gonna chance replacing this. Have the required screwdrivers etc.

There are plenty websites online offering parts but just checking if anyone has had personal experience to recommend...?

Out of interest, have you used this particular component to do a repair previously?

Late reply but when my iphone 4s got water damaged , I availed of apples out of warranty repair service. Ring apple and they'll tell you if you qualify , it costs €120 flat charge and they send you a new iPhone within 7 days same spec as your damaged one. Good service . If you cant wait 7 days you can pay €200 they'll send you an iPhone to keep with in 24hrs and the courier takes your damaged one away. You get refunded €80 once they have your iphone back at their repair centre. I got a brand new iPhone for my water damaged one for€120 including courier.

those figures don't match the quotes for out of warranty repairs on the apple website
