HP Pavilion G6 overclocking

Today I bought a HP Pavilion G6. While it's got a relatively good graphics card, good sound, and 6GB of RAM, it does have a somewhat lacking processor - only coming in at around 1.7GHZ.

Everything else to do with the laptop is excellent for what I an afford (slowly getting the hang of Windows 8), however I would like to see if it would be possible to bump up the CPU speed a little more.

I'm completely new to this, as never felt the need to before, but what possible speed could I get out of it? It's a silly question, probably.

I'm not sure about overclocking laptops to be honest. You are usually pretty heat restricted and I doubt the mainboard supports it. It's pretty normal for laptop processor speeds to be lower.

If you would like to make windows 8 operate more like previous versions and/or remove the metro interface you should try classic shell.

Nope. You can't. Never try overclocking on something that isn't a desktop without liquid cooling (or nitrogen). Laptops have tiny fans that would be useless at dissipating the heat that overclocking would generate. That and I doubt even if you wanted to, you couldn't, because for a CPU to be overclockable in the first place, it has to be unlocked by the CPU manufacturer (think of the Intel Core i7 2600 and 2600K, K series are unlocked)...and I can't see AMD selling unlocked CPUs for machines that aren't designed with overclocking in mind.
