Hi. I need to upgrade a lot of my painting gear. I'm living in the Midlands and the supply stores down here are awful. I'll be in Dublin during the week and I'm thinking of dropping into MRCB. I've never been there before so I'm wondering do they stock good quality tools? I'm looking for Purdy brushes, and good quality filling knives, sleeves, overalls, etc. Thanks.

U cam get a lot of good quality tools in 1. Colortrend shop celbridge , 2. Mrcb , 3. Stillorgan decor. All those stores stock purdy brushes, wooster brushes and extension poles.

MRCB are very expensive, you'll get everything in fleetwood or johnsons trade centres a lot cheaper, just google and you'll see where they are. Apart from the purdys but they sell decent brushes of their own.
Stillorgan decor are reasonable if you're gonna be near there

IMO MRCB is the best paint shop in the country. What I like about them is that they are an independent, and not tied to a brand. They do have an excellent range of tools and sundries. All major paint brands and knowledgeable staff who have worked there for years. Whether your looking for a cheap pack of brushes or an Omega they have most bases covered, and same with sleeves etc etc.

Johnstones own range, talking about Fathog, is crap at the best of times. Only there painters overalls are worth a mention. Colourtrend do lovely knives, name escapes me OP, they are American and great flexibility. A little pricey I paid €25 for two 4inch but they are top marks.

Thanks guys. I'll be commuting up, so MRCB is definitely the handiest option.

Stillorgan Decor aren't tied to any brand and are far cheaper than MRCB. Generally the only paint shops tied to one perticular brand are their own trade shops, ie dulux trade centre only sell dulux, fleetwood trade centre only sell fleetwood. All the other ones stock a selection of brands, stillorgan decor, coolmine decor, nash paints etc etc..
Johnsons have many other tools apart from Fathog most of which are very good.
Not a fan of their overalls though, I found them very baggy, more suitable for heavier builds.. Blaklader make fantastic overalls, been my favourite for years. Get mine in stillorgan decor but I'd say they'd stock them in MRCB too
