EPG Update

The epg has been updated in the past week where they have made some small but welcome changes. The guide loads in 4 -5 seconds and the picture does not freeze when entering and exiting the menu.

They have also added channel icons to the guide replacing the channels name which makes it look nicer.

all of these changes have made the guide a lot more user friendly, well done upc !

I've just checked my box and it's 4.0.0.7.E10.....and the Guide is taking 10 secs to load:(

On my Horizon HD box BBC 1 HD has replaced BBC 1 NI on channel 108 and Setanta HD has replaced Setanta on channel 105. This must be the beginning of the HD channels replacing the SD ones. Interestingly I still have the English version of BBC 1 HD meaning the Northern Irish version is gone completely. All the other HD channels remain where they were.

I'm updated now on all my STBs.

The main visible change is that the channel currently highlighted in the EPG displays the channel logo - this doesn't work for all channels, obviously. Other than that the performance improvements are good, although there was still a (much shorter) freeze for me when loading the EPG, at least the first time. It makes the EPG usable now though, something which wasn't really the case in older versions.

Same here, BUT, STILL no series number displayed when looking up episode/Other Showings information. I wonder did they slip in any Series Link bug fixes while they were at it...

We just got this update today, version is 4.0.0.6E2. I'm on the Horizon trial, so just got it on the multiroom Thomson SD box.

Guide is much better now. You can also enter a channel number while in the guide and it will 'jump' to it.

I got another update yesterday to version 4.1.0.2w1. Its terrible.

They updated the DVR recordings section where they made playback a lot more fluid and seamless. Also when you exit from playing back your recording, it exits at that recording no matter what page its on, rather than just go back to the top of page 1 ( nice touch).

On the main screen the now and next EPG does not end at midnight anymore, so far it appears to end 12 hours ahead but at times it has been a bit all over the place and slow. I am sure there are a few others bits and pieces that i have yet to find.

My main problem with the update is that it is really slow to change the channel (sometimes 5 seconds) and now and next epg can be slow to populate. The regular menus now feel slow and cumbersome.

Dvr playback has sound issues when you sometimes have to wait for the next keyframe for the sound to sync or come back.

overall it is a poor buggy update, i am close to calling them to ask to be put back to version is 4.0.0.2E3 .
