    Hello All

Our Trajet (Tragedy) has just failed its NCT test, this is on top of spending €1800 2 months ago, 2 new front tyres ( replacing the 2 done 6 months ago) 2 weeks ago and a new Battery on Friday. I rightly annoyed. Wont go into the full details, but would anyone know were I can get an independent report on the car to say what work done to day was done correctly.

I used a brand name (albeit a tyre centre who does servicing). wont name for now, but I am starting to fell like there taking me for a bit of a thick !

what did you previously spend the 1800 on?

what did it fail the NCT on?

way too early imo to be threatening to name and shame the garage.

Maybe you can elaborate on what the car failed on and what was fixed by the garage? We'll see what we can help with.

    Folks

thanks. the original tread should have read

......know were I can get an independent report on the car to say what work done to date was done correctly.

No a car person really, it failed on a rear slip test? Rear suspension system / wishbone - swinging arm / worn etc

not questioning the NCT centre, more annoyed that i got front tyres done six months again, then had them replaced last week on top of front suspension / service 8 weeks ago at €1800. How can you do work on front suspension and not rebalance the wheels. why did no spot the battery?

looking for a name of someone who will look at the service history and work done and advise have i been done!

    thanks

Servicing a car and preparing a car for nct are two different things in a lot of garages. Can you post up a copy of the receipt of what was done to the car and a copy of the nct report??

So you had a service and front suspension work done but you failed on a rear axle problem?

While any wear issue with the rear axle should have been spotted, non of the work they did to the front suspension or service could have caused the rear to fail the slip test. Obviously the rear alignment was already off..it is likely to even be the cause of the front tyres wearing so quickly.

Assuming the place who did the work have a 4 wheel alignment machine then they should ideally have checked all 4 wheels after doing any suspension work, but many places don't have this equipment and if they only did work on the front they may have only have checked the alignment on the front(you mention balancing but I assume you are mistaking this for alignment) as that is all they worked on.

As for the battery, there aren't many garages that would load test a battery as part of a service and once the car didn't fail to start at any stage for them then they would have no reason to suspect an issue.

That my view based on what you've said anyway.

LOL, yeah and implicitly blame the garage that has carried out the work for the car failing the NCT?

thanks for your help and comments. I have reverted with this to the garage with the issue and hopfully all will be resolved fairly.
