Real Irish Castles to stay in - any recommendations?

Just wondering if anyone can recommend an affordable real Irish castle hotel or b & b?

I guess a place that is from medieval times that has been transformed into modern accomodation but still retains its natural charm and tradition and architecture etc.

MY other half is in love with the idea of staying somewhere like that.

Looking to book a special occasion break, possibly in the west of Ireland, was thinking somewhere like Achill perhaps.

I've been googling but only seem to find Wedding related links.

So thought I'd ask for personal recommendations here.

    Thanks in advance.

Ashford Castle is an amazing place - http://www.ashford.ie/

Could be pricey but I know they do deals also. Cong is also a beautiful village and is the location where much of the quiet man was filmed.

If your budget is really restricted I hear there is a castle just outside Kilkenny that is now a hostel!

Can't remember its name but if you google it you should find it.

There's Markree Castle on Sligo. Went there to check it out as a wedding venue and honestly it's the most castle-like hotel I've seen. Everything inside seems very medieval and genuine, even the area where you park outside.
