Looking for a decent priced single speed/fixie bike for commuting around Dublin next year for when I go back to college in September

Just wondering does anyone on here have any experience with these bikes i.e how well they cope with moderate to high sustained use as my journey to and from college will be approx 30km a day so the bikes going to be put through at least 150km per week

Any info, advice etc. would be greatly appreciated.

    €400? Are ye mad?

The frame looks like it's made from gas pipe.

there are 4 or 5 of these parked in the bike park at work every day, They don't look like quality to me, certainly not for €400.

Those bikes also say "steal me" in big fluorescent letters to me. Especially if you plan to leave them outside college.

was planning on getting the least gaudy version possible if I was to get one to prevent that scenario happening....

    That and a large heavy U-lock ;)

I was interested in buying one myself at one stage but when I saw them I was very glad I hadn't, I would have been very disappointed.

Chainreaction own brand Vitus, do a decent looking ss/fixie. 26 & 29 versions available I think.

2nd is a bit dodgy with conversions unless you know how to check basics, chain line, cog, chainring and chain condition.

A dodgy chainline will break your heart.

I have one at the moment, it's an '09 model, and I've had it nearly 3 years myself. Bombproof, I've never had any problems. Little heavy, but it's a steel frame, and it'll still be lighter than the piece of s.h.i.t.e you linked to in your original post
