    Hi,

I have an appointment in my local social welfare office tomorrow morning, as I am finished my first year of college. This means that my Back to Education Allowance will be stopping until September. I will now be switching over to Job Seekers Allowance (or benefit, its one of the two!)

My problem is I cannot get in contact with them on the phone in order to ask them what documents I must bring in with me tomorrow morning. Can anyone who has done the same transition please tell me what was required of them when they had to go in?

    Thanks,

    R

I'm going into my final year so have been through this 3 times before.
it's dead handy, they just get you to fill out a form with your finish date and the start date for the next year.
Not sure if you need to get a letter from the college confirming these dates but if its not too much of a pain get one just in case.

that's about it I think. It's not an ordeal

    Hi Keith,

I have already sent that form back to them, i received it in April. I heard someone mention something about bringing bank statements in to them with other documents?? I will be working weekends for the summer so I'm a bit confused about what happens now!

    Thanks

You may need a bank statement, I didn't this year but did last year. If so all you need is the current balance, I used a mini statement from the ATM so it wasn't a big deal.
You'd have to say it to them about the weekend work and that, your best bet is to go in and say it to them.

All I needed was a letter stating the exact date I finished, and I filled out a form in the office stating that my means had not changed, my address had not changed and I was still looking for work. Done it three times now.
