Help don't want to flake at this stage
1st real time giving up ( tried about 10 years ago but only lasted 1 day!!)

All I can say is that you are doing incredibly well, I'm in awe because it has been on my mind recently. 6 days is a great achievement so far! Think about it, you could be free of those things competely, your skin will be great, you can get a proper lungful of air and get some fitness back.

    Good luck!

Thanks Jimmy, still going trough the "giving up flu" i want to stick with it and am looking forward to jogging 1 day just need some advise on breaking the brain from fag!!!

First off, congratulations for making it this far. Most people don't last 6 mins, let alone 6 days so very well done.

I'm not recommending this as I understand the need to give up so well but its what I've done and I've been tobacco free for 7 wks now. If its just a nicotine hit you're looking for, I'd say give the electronic fag a go. It gives you the nicotine hit you're after as well as the habitual raising the hand to mouth simulation. The big plus is that you get none of the cancerous elements, tar, Carbon Monoxide, arsenic, formaldehyde and all the rest of it. There's a big community here on boards for it and if you check out "vaping & e-smoking" you'll get most if not all of the advice you may need.

Best of luck with the rest of your journey to becoming cigarette free. Hope you get where you're going!!!

Thank you pajopearl something to think about when I'm ready to go out for a few drinks, hoping to find something a bit sooner, probably get used to it and my own willpower :-)

    Keep it up Sarwal!

Every time you get a craving and consider buying a pack - PUT IT OFF. Tell yourself you will wait until the three week mark. My reasoning for this is that if you make it successfully to three weeks without cigs you are flying, because by then you will have experienced physical, psychological and financial benefits that will make you want to stay a non-smoker. By three weeks, you will only have to deal with very slight cravings and maybe a pang when you're out having a drink. For those social events, I recommend disposable electronic cigs so you have something to fool your brain.

I reached two months this weekend (I still can't BELIEVE I did it) and am now trying to wean off the nicotine replacements also.

I completely understand - the first two weeks is absolute hell. I was aggressive, anxious and breaking out in spots and massive gum infections. But please remember that it doesn't stay that way. Be patient, wait til three/four weeks and you will be safe.

Thanks dontbemean , that's exactly what I have been thinking- giving it 3 weeks, hopefully you'll be right and by then I'll be a happier non-smoker!!

Well done on the 2 months smoke free

Sarwal just wanted to say good job on another day, despite not feeling great about it yesterday. Hearing about someone else doing so well is great news, even though I don't know ye!

Havnt smoked since sunday myself, keep up the good work, the NiQuitin Mini mints have been helping the cravings for me, have you tried any products?

I myself for some reason took a smoking break, basically all yesterday evening and up to about a half hour ago today. I feel like I am close to going for it, but because I smoke weed (and hence mix with tobacco) I wonder will it ever really be possible, say to just smoke tobacco with my joint and no cigerettes ever... not sure.

Hope you two are still going strong!

I have/had one, but one ended up getting broke. The other one I managed to fix the heads but I've left it in my friends gaff and he's away on holidays. If they were both working perfectly I'd say I'd already be off them.

Oh wait did you mean vaporizor for weed? Thought about it before, but just never bothered. Good shout!

Thanks the bza and Jimmy, still off them and yes bza I'm using the mini's they really help with the very bad moments - today's been an okay day but I've had a few of those already so not thinking I'm over the worse just yet!!

Jimmy you'll get there, you might have to give up the weed for a bit though :-(

Well done to both of you- jimmy for nearly being there ( it took me a good month once I decided to stop to actually trying to stop) and Bza 4 days is great, for me even in my low moments just knowing I'd gotten past day 3 has kept me from giving in

Fair play to you, the biggest step is actually stopping, the craving lasts for a minute or so if you can do something to occupy your mind it helps. For me I would instantly go outside and go for a short walk. You basically have to change your routine and that is the biggest key to quitting. Keep at it in a day or two you will be happier

God you poor people! I've never smoked, never even tried it thank god, but I'm trying to give up chocolate this week because I eat way to much and I'm finding it really hard, I'm sure the cigs is 300% harder. My respects go out to you all

Yeah, those Niquitin minis are great. Just gone up in price though. €21.05 a triple pack.
They were €19.49 which was expensive enough.
In London last year I could get them for €9.50 a triple pack.
FFS do they think we are made of money!!

Just try not to think about it and get a alternative for the time untill you get used to live without ciggy's, If you ask me its all about your mental state I have been through this many times, The only thing that forced me to smoke was the amount of nicotine i got in my blood somehow after not smoking for whole 1 and a half year it still was in my blood

That's definitely not right - there's no way there is still nicotine in your system after 1.5 years. Most of it is gone after a few days and it'll be completey gone from your system after a few weeks. Unless you're putting nicotine into your body some other way (ecigs/nicotine patches/gum etc) then it's long gone by 1.5 years.
