I have Office 2000 installed on a PC. How do I know which version it is, e.g., Standard, Professional? Help > About just says Office 2000, without giving the version.

Have you gone to list of programs in the control panel, usually has professional there beside office if it is.

If you have the four main excel, word, powerpoint and outlook then it would be standard version.

Or open one of the office programmes, like word and click on help on the top toolbar and then 'about microsoft office word'
