First p.c build, for gaming, 3d modelling & Video Editing

Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I've begun training in VFX and I'm looking for a computer that could run these programs smoothly. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

1. What is your budget? [€1000 - €1500]

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [3D Modelling/Video Editing/Internet and if I can a bit of gaming.] [I'll be using programs like the Foundry Nuke, Auto Desk Maya and Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.] [The type of games I'll probably play are Mass Effect, Fallout, Team Fortress.)

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes]

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [No]

5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [22'.]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080)

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard Mouse & Wireless Card.]

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [I don't really understand it so maybe in the future]

How about this? That xeon is an ivy 4 core - 8 thread cpu. The same as an i7 3770 but 100mhz lower clocked and without the igp which you won't need with a graphics card. It does not have an unlocked multiplier meaning overclocking is limited to a max of 4.1ghz which is great value considering the prices.

I'm not sure what graphics acceleration all of that software supports but I went with the Nvidia card as more software seems to support cuda but you should look into whether they all support cuda or open cl. You could get a better value amd option if there's a lot of open cl support.

You could drop down to a less powerful graphics card if you wanted to save some money. A 660gtx would run all of those games on max settings no problem and costs €215 less.

The case is sound dampened and most of the parts are very quiet at stock. The 212 evo i pretty audible but you can turn the fan speed down a bit as it will keep the cpu cool even at 50%. The stock cooler is pretty rubbish even if not overclocking.

All you need is a keyboard which you have to get elsewhere as the German version has a different layout.

Ho there,

That's a very good rig!!! That Nvidia card has lots of Cuda cores which will be very useful for video editing software like Premiere.

I would only change one thing. As for Video Editing is a high RAM consumer, I would use a faster RAM, at least this one

16GB-Kit G.Skill RipJaws-X PC3-12800U CL9 for 112.51 €

I've been editing video (amateurish) for long time now and RAM amount and speed are too great factors to consider.
