MRI prices - private clinics

I found out recently that I need an MRI scan to confirm an injury I sustained which will need surgery to repair.

I have had a couple of MRI scans with Euromedic, Dundrum in the past, both occasions costing about €200, for a different medical issue. First scan was under private health insurance and the second was out of my own pocket.

I currently have a medical card and the Euromedic website states they offer a 30% discount for medical card holders. Great, or so I thought. I contacted them by email and they told me my MRI would cost €200, inclusive of the discount. Obviously I questioned the quote as that is what I paid for my previous MRI scans. I was given some BS reason that the price of MRI's have fallen/risen in the last few years. It sounded like complete nonsense and suggested that Euromedic weren't interested in offering a discount as advertised.

Can anyone recommend any MRI provider that does actually offer a discount for medical card holders? Thanks.

I don't see any mention of medical card discounts on the other private MRI clinics (alliance medical are from 200e - no costs listed for mater private).

To be fair, euromedic website lists the cost for an MRI from 200 to 225 and that they offer "up to" a 30% discount for medical card patients. So it's ambiguous as opposed to guaranteed.

The alternative is to wait on the public list so it depends on the severity of the condition as to how quickly you'll be seen.
Did you contact your health insurer to see if you're covered?

I don't have health insurance, hence the reason I take issue with clinics making false offers of "discounts".
