Looks like a bargain compared to all other providers.

    Today's total:

    €229.99
    free delivery

    Monthly cost:

    €25.41

Great deal! Total is ~€690 so only about €90 more than buying it sim free. So you're basically paying €90 for 18 months of 200min, 200 texts and 1GB data per month plus the added bonus of paying off the phone monthly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,144 ✭✭✭Ballyv24

Very good offer alright.. I am turned off by the €229.99 upfront because I would prefer the payment to be made over the 18 months.

Afaik the same offer applies for the Galaxy S3 and the Xperia Z with Meteor.

It is only for 12 months then 30.50 for 6 months

Whats the catch here, starting deals with other providers seem much worse.

    E.g

    O2 - Initial costs 379, 30 Euro monthly
    3 mobile - Initial cost 449, 25 Euro montly.

Yeah plus I will get 80 Euro for my current iphone 3gs....for which Im on pay as you go Vodafone and spending around 30 euro a month on credit.

Seems like I will actually make money by getting this new phone....Question is, is this phone better than my iphone 3gs 16gb?

Even with €30 more it's still a great deal.

Oh god yes! I think even Apple fanboys would agree that a flagship android phone is better than a 4 year old iphone. You will never look back.

It's worth going through fatcheese for this as you MIGHT get €30 cash back

I think you will be better off if you buy from cpw as they are giving 100 euro cash back and device cost 200e but your monthly commitment will be 30.50 for 18 months. I think it will be cost you around 650 after cash back offer

A similar deal a few months ago hooked me up to Meteor after 12 years with Vodafone:

    Nokia Lumia 820 Phone: €45
    18 months of 200mins / 200 txts / 1GB data @€;25 per month: €400

Total costs over 18 months: €445

The phone itself retails at about €500 sim free. Unbelievable deal :D

Depends on how you use your phone. I'm nearly always on wifi somewhere and I wouldn't be downloading movies when I'm not

For emails / apps data use and general surfing when I'm not on wifi, 1GB is plenty...

With the Lumia, you get free nav and the maps are all downloaded onto the phone (so no data use there either)

1GB is a dangerous low allowance especially with data speeds constantly getting faster, your usage can easily spike and it only needs to happen once to clean out your bank account.
On bill pay you shouldn't have anything less than 5G but preferably unlimited internet allowance when the bill is linked to your bank account.

dont forget meteor charge a €200 upfront fee for new pay monthly deals if they arent happy with your credit history, once you meet all your monthly repayments after 6 months you get it back but still alot upfront including cost of phone

Lads..cpw are doing a better deal.

I upgraded with meteor..12 month contract..35 a month..200 min 200 txt 1 gig data..free m to m calls and txts..paid 199 and got a voucher to get 100 cash back into my account in august.

So..519 all in for the phone... and 12 months bills.

Had a look on CPW site,

Cant understand how this offer works at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 265 ✭✭innocent_lover

You pay 35.50 for 12 months and get 200min,200 texts,1gb data and free meteor to meteor t&t. Device cost 200e. So total contract cost 626 then you get 100e cash back from cpw, reducing contract cost to 526.
You have to go to cpw shop to get this deal as there is no info on there website.

I may just stick to Meteor, handier.

Works out much the same(529 for first 12 months).... Except you commit to an extra 6 months....which I plan to do anyway.

If I got this contract and at the end of the 16 months would they offer me an upgrade ? Or is that only for higher cost post monthly ?

When was that, their website is saying it only applies to 49 euro and up plans now.

    How is reception with Meteor?

your deal isn't a lot better at all...

    18*25 = €450 not 400 + 45 = €495

you're tied to a 18 month contract, the cpw deal is only 12

it also has free meteor call & texts - does your deal

The vast majority of people in the know would regard it as better than the IPhone 5, so it's a massive step up from your current phone. The best on the market along with the Samsung Galaxy S4 when it comes along.

    Oops, my bad!

Still the phone retails at over €500, so I get free 18 months of phone use. And at the end of the contract I can sell my phone for about €200. I have no idea how they can do a deal like this, perhaps Nokia are heavily subsidising the new Windows Phone 8 phones?
    batistuta9 wrote: »

And yeah, mine's with Meteor too, so free Meteor calls / txts...

As far as I know, that plan (200 min/text 1gb data) is available for €15 now through meteor, it used to be €25 but dropped to 15, so I wonder can you drop to the lower priced plan and get the same allowances after a few weeks?

Is that not the SIM only tariff though cormie?

I'm not sure, was cancelling a meteor contract the other day which was 25 eur for 200m/200t/1gb data and the guy in the cancellation team suggested moving to the same plan but for 15eur a month, I said no but to move to it for the last 30 days of the cancellation period. I'm not sure if it's a "loyalty team" offer or what so?

I spoke to Carphone Warehouse about this offer at lunchtime, the €100 cashback on the HTC One expired on Sunday. That offer is however now available on the Sony Experia Z.

The Meteor plan was €35 a month over 12 months, or €30 a month over 18 months. Both with €229 down for the phone.

I tried to get a pay monthly phone with meteor last week, unfortunately I was turned down at the credit review stage.

It was a little surprising as I have been bill pay with meteor and then three for over ten years now, luckily my bank don't use whatever arbitrary measure meteor currently uses as I was approved for a substantial mortgage the next day. Maybe I should jointly apply for my phone with my wife!!

having been a bill pay customer and wanting to change plans I called them and was told I wanted to cancel so I could get the new plan. was put onto loyalty and told I had would cancel if they didn't give me the new plan so I agreed and got it no issue.
the fact there is no stipulation on the 25.41 plan being for new customers only didn't have any bearing for meteor...odd
