As the title says - free to good home: Triumph 1300 FWD

Only stipulation is it has to be restored - no breaking for parts.

NO one time posters need apply.

Good luck with finding a good home.

    It's not a Toledo though, just a Triumph 1300. ;)

oh how I wish I knew how to restore this; I think its beautiful, but unfortunately I knew nothing about cars! Hope it finds a home & gets restored. Fair play to you op

    Nice litle drivers those 1300s.
Ring gear at the front of the engine is a novelty!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭Muckie

    Fair play Jim.

Had two of these cars. Great cars to work on.

Hope it gets fully restored to its former glory.

Oh the temptation. Had a spin in one of those when I was about 5, maybe 6, and I was struck by the quality of the carpet.

If not already gone do PM with its location and general condition. If not too bad I might take it on.

I'll pass the word on to the good people of the TCOC.

Hey I recognise that car! Great little car, except for when the front wheels were trying to escape.

Hopefully jimbobjones40 fixed the front left suspension with the parts I gave him.

Best of luck to the new owner.

Happy to say that the car is in the safe hands of a very happy new owner and will be put back on the road. I suspect it would have been broken had anyone else got their hands on it so a good result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 586 ✭✭✭8~)

That's good. I would have taken it, just to save it, if I thought it was going to be scrapped.

Jack from Kerry is selling this "car", while we had John from Kerry selling a Morris Oxford last week in Jamaica !!

It's not even a Toledo. You can tell by the longer tail. Toledo's had the shorter rear end, same as the 1300. If it is a 72 car then it would have to be a 1500 fwd or an early Dolomite 1850. Looks more like a mid 70s Dolly 1300 to me though.

You wouldn't get much off that for the 1300 either. One's front wheel drive, the other's rear wheel drive. Very different cars although the doors can fit if you move the locks I think. Doubt the doors on that are much cop by the look of it though :)

Or has he just used any old pic from Flickr to use in the ad? Either way, 2 very different cars.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 Mercian

Thanks alot guys, I saw the donedeal ad but that is a different model.

Our car is coming along and is now driving with one front suspension rebuilt. The Summer hols have meant that other things have our attention but rest assured we r making progress.

There WAS a 1300 on Emmet Rd in Inchicore, not sure if it's still there. Battleship grey if I remember.

Interesting range /development 1300,1500, Toledo, Dolomite,Dolomite Sprint, Panther Rio  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panther_Rio

    Quick update,

The car is now driving, insured and taxed, oh ye of little faith.

There were alot of small things that needed doing to get her roadworthy and the list is not yet finished. The body has had some repairs for now but will need a full respray. The flexible drives have been replaced with original metalastic items, the front suspension will need a poly bush rebuild some time soon too. All in all the progress is slow but we r getting there.

    Regards.
