Im currently in my mid 20s and living with my family who emotionally abused me as a child. They still harrass me occassionally but its nothing like before, thats mainly because i hole myself up in my room to avoid them but its no way to live. Id be gone in an instant if I could afford it.

Which brings me to my question, does anyone know of any assisstance, public or private i could get to move out away from them? And also, what would i have to prove to get that assisstance? I also suffer from mild depression and social anxiety which makes it hard to do things like get a job.

    Are you claiming the dole?
You could apply for rent allowance.
I think talking to your local Community Welfare Officer could be a good start.Theyd be based at a local health centre. They only sit on certain days and times and im pretty sure youd need an appointment but if you try ringing the health centre you should be able to get the details you need.

I went through similar to, problems with family which led to me practically living in my bedroom felling miserable and lonely. Citizens information is a brilliant resource, they'll help you find out about your entitlements and who to speak to.
