Hello, i was sacked by my employer over a year ago, i was missing days due to depression. i have not claimed any benefits till now, was brought to doctor by my family, and he has signed illness benefit form for me, I'm just wondering can i claim from when i was sacked or only from date the doctor signed?

AFAIK you can only apply for backdating for 6 months and it would be up to a deciding officer whether to allow backdating or not. Of course you GP would also have to be willing to provide certs for this period.
