Leak from private well, under footpath, into house

    Hi Folks,

Looking for some information and inspiration.

I have a leak from a pipe leading from my well into my house.

Now I know my OH will have to jackhammer/dig up a section of the footpath to access the pipe. My question is I suppose, having dug up the footpath, should I get a plumber to fix the leak or chance a poor DIYer (he'll admit this) to have a go.

I'm assuming its a join that has a problem and just has to be replaced? If that's the case, with current piping etc, is this something a 'trier' can do. OH is not a total numptie, but we want to be realistic of the difficulty involved.

Thanks for any help and if anyone knows a good handyman/plumber in south tipp, all the better :D

Let him dig it up and expose the pipe work then have a look at it if he feels confident that its within his capabilities work away if not call someone in.
