Taking extra credits

In UCC, can a student attend whatever course he/she wants to regardless of his/her department? For example, let's say I am studying English, but I want to take French courses. Is it possible?

I can assume you are talking about Arts and if that is the case, you have to take two subjects in the Arts degree. You can either take 50/10, 40/20 or 30/30 credits in two subjects. So yes you can take English and French.

If you are talking about a specific course, then it will possibly change.

If you've any more questions, feel free to ask away. Hope that helped in some shape or form anyway!

Thanks for the answer. I was actually talking about master's courses. In CACSSS, for example, while taking the compulsory courses of my programme (let's say World Literature), can I also attend other courses offered by other departments?

You know, in some universities you can register for whatever course you want as long as there are not conflicts or quota restrictions, and these courses are also shown in your transcript, with their grades added into your GPA. Is that the case in UCC?

That should help to some degree, it'll tell you what you can and cannot take. It really does depend on each dept though and each Masters. I'd say get in contact with the dept you are interested in doing the Masters with, they'll be able togive more info!! :)

That's exactly the reason why I asked the question in this forum. :) Strangely, I hardly get any answers from UCC for my e-mails. Talking face to face is the solution, I believe.

If undergraduate is anything to go by this will not be possible. UCC is extremely fond of rigid degree descriptions!!
