Thanks tuxy that looks good , was thinking of a HD7950 myself but had no idea for a case or psu to keep it in or around the budget.

That case looks fine to me btw.

Just be aware that the macho is a pain to install, apparently (although extremely effective).

Macho is indeed an awful pain to install

That Msi board is a premium sli board. Why not go sli? Dual 660's are great value atm. Only €60 more for a lot more performance and not much more power consumption.

Thanks for the feedback lads , did not realise than the macho would have so much to the installation.

As for the sli option ( or crossfire ) that's something that I can look into maybe further down the line as a possible upgrade if it's needed as I'm starting from scratch and trying to keep the cost down.

Decided after some consideration to put the build back a few weeks to up the budget to €1300,
    to cover everything including shipping.

I'm going to drop the macho from the original item list and add the following items.

    Cooling : H100i

    Case : thermaltake urban s31

Psu Thermaltake Smart SE 730W / Modular

    Gpu : Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950, 3GB GDDR5, PCI-Express

Would like to know if it looks ok and for some constructive criticism on the build. also if someone would like to put up an alternative €1300 build I would like to see what you would do different.

Your build is fine. I'd just change the psu and graphics card. That thermaltake only has 47 amps on the 12v rail which is pretty poor for a 730w psu. 2 high end graphics cards and a processor all overclocked could cause it issues.

While it's not modular this does have 72 amps on the 12v rail and is silver rated compared to bronze. You will be able to hide the cables at the back of most good cases anyway.

You have already picked a great sli capable board. You might as well go sli with a pair of these. It won't cost much more than that single 7950 and will only use a small amount of extra power. It will outperform a 7950 by quite a bit though. It's around 780 gtx performance.

Thanks BloodBath for the info on the amps , have decided to go with that power supply you linked to and also go GTX 660 sli.

Well got it almost fully built , have it up and running ( started first time round) with the os installed and one of the gpu's installed.

Can't install the other gpu yet as there was no sli bridge in with the motherboard :( , will have to try and get hold of one over the next day or so . but apart from that all went well.

    Thanks for the help all.

The SLI bridge should come with the GPU ?

Normally it comes with the motherboard for sli, I've never got a nvidia card that cane with it but I've had a few motherboard that had it.

Oh so is it more of an AMD thing for the bridge to come with the GPU ?

Yes I've not owned a AMD card in a while but that does look like the way it is.
It's unusual that the msi z87 gaming does not include on. Normally if a motherboard says sli on the box there is a sli bridge included.

Cutting corners for a competitive price I guess but you would expect a bridge with an sli board.

They have the Sli bridge down as one of the optional accessories in the packing contents of the user guide  .

Had a look around today but could not get my hands on an sli bridge , but I did manage to get two sets of Corsair sp120 quiet edition fans and a power extension cable with sleeving for a short cable from the psu.

Can't do full push / pull just yet as the memory heat sink gets in the way of the fan , so I might get some new low profile ram to replace it so I can fit the other fan in.
