Looks like they are just copying the other cars on that street, a lot of awful parking in that town wherever it is.

There was a smart two2 that used to park on Mountjoy square and it would park like perpendicularly in a space like that all the time except it was so small it actually fit without using the path

What you don't see is that the left front wheel is actually chained to the bike stand. Rough neighbourhood, so the extra security helps.

Either that, or it's the worst attempt at parallel parking ever.

Im assuming there was a whole line of cars like that. The astra seems to be fully on the path.
Im not saying its correct but you see alot of that type of thing around mass time etc in towns where in most cases there is a severe shortage of parking. I dont go to mass - before the high horses cone along.

This view from Streetview will give you an idea (the Polo in the pic is where the Mini now is). While the Astra isn't parked ideally, it's a far cry from the way the Mini is dropped!
