Freehub Compatability

My freehub is on the way out - it's been skipping a little lately. Cleaned and flushed it but problem came back after a few days.

It's a shimano (possibly shimano compatible) 10 speed/24 spoke on a 2011 giant pr2 wheel. The hub assembly is branded Giant. I can't locate a diagram of the hub as you can for a similar shimano hub assembly (e.g. http://www.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/EV/bikecomponents/FH/EV-FH-5700-3006A_v1_m56577569830702943.pdf )

From what I can see most modern shimano 8/9/10 speed freehubs are interchangeable in that the cassette will fit on them etc. I'm not so sure what happens when installing the freehub on a particular wheel.

Grateful for any advice in tracking down the right part. I was thinking of getting the above assembly and taking the freehub off it - would that work?

I had the same problem last year, the Shimano freehub went and despite a couple of possible hits, I was completely unable to find a replacement.

Eventually I bought a complete hub from CRC, exact same type. I cannibalised it and replaced the freehub, bearings, cones & seals in my existing MTB wheel. Happy days. I think it cost me about 40 Euro.

    Thanks DeanDean

I can't locate the part number of the Giant hub assembly itself. Might just take the chance that whatever hub specific bits I might need are recoverable and cannabilise the replacement hub for the freehub body.
