Windows Phone App - the definitive answer

    Hello BOI team

There's been multiple requests from users about a Windows Phone App. The answers have generally been "we'll pass your request to the mobile team" but to us users that really doesn't mean anything, or give us any confidence that the request is being taken seriously.

To that end, I would like to know a few things
    - is there any plan, even if only murmurs for the moment, that Windows Phone will be catered for?
    - If so, can you please give us some rough timelines. Even if it's going to be a year - it will give us WP users an expectation, rather than being in the dark.
    - If not, how can we collectively voice our desire to get something done?
    - Did you know that Microsoft actually help pay for apps in some cases?

Windows Phone market share is increasing, recently surpassing Blackberry (that may be globally, or in US so I can't speak for irish market share). You currently have no mobile website, so WP users have to use the full site on their mobile phones.

    Your assistance is appreciated.

Yeah the worldwide share of Windows Phone has surpassed Blackberry and is growing at the faster rate than Android or Apple.

BOI should take the lead in creating a windows phone app, and hopefully that would push AIB into following suit, although they already have good mobile website that's easy to use.

Sorry if you felt Laura's response was vague.

What we should have made clear is we are referring your specific questions to our Mobile App team and we will update you when they come back to us with a response.

    Thanks for posting.

As am I! Even a nice mobile site would do the job - I'm not looking for a dedicated app.

    Hi Ranjo

This is the response wereceived from our Mobile Apps team this morning:

"Weabsolutely take requests and feedback from our users very seriously and that we are considering Windows phones as part of our mobile strategy.
However, unfortunately we are unable to provide a definitive date for any potential app release at the moment but we will continue to keep you up to date on any progress in this area".

    Thanks for Posting.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. It doesn't really give much away though. I'm not actually looking for an app release date, because I know that's not something the team can really socialise unless it's 100% known.

I would like to know though - is something in development at the moment? Are we talking (even finger-in-the-air stuff will do) 3 months, 6 months, a year + more?

    Hi Ranjo,

We have no further information at this stage on a Windows App.  As soon as we have an update you will be the first to know.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Whats the problem with creating a mobile app for windows phone, do you have something against BOI? Isn't your duty to provide your customers with the best service? Even if there is only one person who is using windows phone, wont you make sure he stays happy using your service ? Your answers are cold and mean and being unfair to costumers who prefer using windows phone. If there are any problems of creating the app for wp, please tell us i might not dislike you as much.
