Mid-Range Gaming: MSI or Lenovo

I'm looking for a mid-range gaming laptop, and at the moment at least have narrowed it down to between these two:

MSI GE60

Lenovo Ideapad Y500

Both have the NVIDIA 650M, which I gather is a pretty good card for the mid-range. I'm probably drawn to the aesthetics of the Lenovo a bit more, but the MSI is Core i7 and has a slightly larger HDD. They're both 1080 as well, which is what I was looking for.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

And are laptopsdirect.ie any good? I know there was a furore about them here on boards for having craptacular customer service many moons ago, but is that still the case?

The i7 processor appears more capable than the i5. The i5 is paired with an HDD running a bit slow at 5400, but I could not find the speed of the the larger HDD for the i7. I no longer use platter drives for gaming, vid editing, downloading, etc. I now use SSD's, which are much faster than platters, generate less heat, and do not fail as often as HDDs. But if I was to use a HDD, I would be looking for something spinning at 7200, not 5400.

I haven't seen Torqay on this forum for a while, but he often recommended people to have a look at pcspecialist.co.uk

It probably won't work out cheaper than the ones you're looking at, but you get a lot more choice when it comes to configuring the different parts...
Plus you can dispense with windows if you like and chop 90e off the price.
