Saorview freezing intermittantly

Hi, Sorry for starting a new thread but been looking through others and not sure if my issue is the same. Basically I'm getting intermittent freezing with Saorview with a Bush and AKURA box basically Vestel rebadges. Have a Sony and Samsung TV connected to the same aerial with no issues. Both boxes have 100% quality and 78 % strength on one with 90% on the other, strength fluctuates a point or two up and down but no more. Have a loft wide band aerial with powered amp powered from a PSU in one of the rooms. Amp is old LABGEAR CM7271 model. Have a splitter after the amp which has a power pass through. One thing I have noticed is breakup is more common on 3e during scenes with lots of movement but also happens to a lesser degree on RTÉ and TV3 ... makes no sense because all the same frequency C48 from Maghera. Only thing I can think is that amp is old so not well screened and is getting overloaded periodically. Last detail when I have a mobile in the room under the aerial signal quality hits the floor which leads me to think the amp is the problem. Would welcome peoples thoughts.

Looks like your problems are due to a combination of poor signal to begin with & additional effects of interference.

Best course of action would be to move the aerial outside & make sure any amplifiers, splitters & cables have decent screening. I suppose you could try changing the amplifier 1st & see if that makes any worthwhile improvement.

Don't pay too much heed to receiver signal readings, the only thing that matters is being able to view programmes without any glitching/freezing etc.

Is it data searching screen blank or black or picture freezing? Might be the aerial?

Funny thing is get no freezing on the Sony or Samsung TV also connected. Think signal strength is ok. The Sony and Samsung TV both show readings of 96% and 92% signal strength respectively with 100% quality.

@ Peter Rhea not brushing off what your saying Peter, I take your points. Aerial is in perfect condition ... reckon it's more interference than poor signal level because using the same set-up gave a perfect analog picture and the reason for thinking that is when I have a mobile in proximity of the aerial the room under it. Quality drops off totally, when I move away bingo back to normal no reckon it is mobile network related. Think Watty mentioned this in another post and use of a filter think he said Tetra/band pass filter.

An aerial in the attic will (obviously) be more susceptible to interference pickup from inside the house, compared to an outdoor aerial, with its extra distance from sources of interference, as well as the roof acting as a barrier. It would seem to be your phone's uplink transmissions that are causing the problem.

I'd definitely change that amp first though, & see how it goes, & if you don't get a multi-output amp as a replacement, make sure the splitter is screened too.

Sorry for the resurrection of this thread, but having similar issues and this came up in search. Fluctuating signal (from 73% to 100%) that is causing break up. It seems to be worse in high pressure, so after changing everything else I tried a variable attenuator thinking it was signal from another transmitter, but all it did was reduce the still fluctuating signal.

Currently getting signal from Kippure, but could probably pick up Laragh relay, but it sounds like the issue is internal interference? So moving the aerial outside is the solution?
