I applied 80 units of nitrogen on May 2nd. Crop is now very heavy. With the weather due to break on Monday evening I was going to cut it to- morrow evening with a disc mower, turn it sat and sun and bale sunday evening. Would this wilting counter act the fact that all the nitrogen may not have been taken up [ based on the 2 units per day]

80 units is 40 days so the 12 of June yes wilting will counter some of the effects was there much rain after you spread. 80 was a lot to spread in early May I would try to hold as the forecast is pointing more towards light rain. however quality will be reducing. Can you get a grass test done.

Too late for test Pudsey. We had a fair lot of rain here for 3 weeks after nitrogen was spread. Afraid that if it starts raining again it will be at it for a week or two and seriously compromise on quality

If you got a fair bit of rain after N was spread more than likely some was washed away so you may well be safe to cut. There is a nitrate test that can be done it is a paper type test and gives results instantly, However you may be safe enough
