Has anyone played on this course that isn't a member? I have went there twice and rented clubs, I really like the course but now the man there (one of the rudest people I've ever met) will not rent me clubs any more. It's not like I won't pay! If I had the money I would join the club. I would have thought that the extra money would help with the upkeep.

We played there about 2 weeks ago. He gave us clubs, balls, tees etc and was very friendly.
We went back again yesterday and he refused to let us play. He wouldn't entertain the idea of letting us use the clubs and said "this is not a sharing club". The same thing happened to a few of the lads that went there on Monday.

We went to Taylors Hill instead and the man working there was like a polar opposite version of the guy in Renmore. He couldn't have been nicer. It's only a 9 hole course but that's where we will be going next time we want a game.
Also, the course was in much better condition.

That lad in Renmore is a header. I used to work around the corner from there (but wasn't a member or anything) and we'd go up the odd evening for a few holes and he'd be grand sometimes and a pure briar other times. Seemed to depend the day you got him on.

Wouldn't put me off going back but then again he never refused me clubs. Don't like it, vote with your feet and head to Taylor's Hill or somewhere!

I was there for the first time lastnight with my 2 mates. Before we paid my mate said the old buck was a bit of a thick oul bollox. He was right. We enjoyed the game imensely until i started practising on the green next to us while the 2 lads were finishing off on the 18th. Well the oul buck came stormimg out shouting at me what the **** do you think your playing at. I said whats this lads problem. Anyway we finished up and started to head towards the gate when he started roaring at me again saying it was ****ing people like me that didn't give otherpeople a chance to play. I don't know why i said sorry as i didn't do a thing wrong but that made him worse. He said sorry doesn't ****ing cut it. I started laughing because it's like this fella must of had a **** day and needed to vent his frustration out on someone. I've been on better courses but it was fairly kept. I don't think i will be going back there in a hurry if thats the way people get treated by that highly strung piece of work. i'm sure there are far nicer people that run pitch and putt courses in galway that wouldn't mind anyone practising a swing that wasn't interfering with anybody eles play. How come people don't complain this lad.

yep, i think there's no point in going there any more. it would be nice if there was somebody to complain to about him but who?

every time i've went there he's refused to give me clubs! maybe it's just me.

Try the Pitch and Putt in Esker, Athenry
    http://www.redemptoristsesker.ie/what-we-do/our-pitch-putt-course/

10 min out the moterway and 10 min from Athenry.

Greens are rough, but most holes are 50M+. €5- and no problems playing a second round.

Your man in Renmore is a toolbox and Taylors is way over priced.

cheers, i'll have ta try that one!

Renmore is a lovely course but the guy in charge a psycho and his language is appalling at times. Taylor's hill is only 9 holes and you can't go around as often as you like. It was a great course when it was 18 holes. Really want to try the place in Esker. There is also a course in recess.

    Recess is far out!

Has anyone played the course in Bearna lately? I played there a couple of years ago and felt the greens were in bad nick. I'd go again if I thought it had improved.

Played it a few times over the years but last year the guy wouldn't let us play as one of our group (me) didn't have his own clubs and he wouldn't rent them to us even though I have rented clubs there 5/6 times.

I went back today for the first time with two friends (had our own gear). His shack wasn't open so we proceeded to play as there were other people playing and we would pay for our round when leaving as its only €5.

On the first hole some guy called Richard Burke claiming to be a member and more importantly on the committee (it's not the Kay Club) came over roaring abuse at us and told my friend not to play a shot as it was too near the green, needles to say my friend played the shot and that's when he became really abusive and told my friend he was a stupid fu*kin b*llocks and became extremely aggressive telling us to get the f*ck off the course.

I don't know it must be the sea air thats affecting them!! Either way I definately won't be going back. They don't seem to want or need our money and that's fine with me!

That sounds pretty bad. I used to play there a lot when I was in school, the guy in the hut was cantankerous to say the least!

I played there a couple of months ago, I was on a stag in Galway and headed out there on the Saturday. The guy running it was good craic, giving out about everything and anything. He rented clubs to one of the lads no problem, I suppose its the day you get him and the mood he is in. The one thing I would say that the course was fairly rough, lots of long grass everywhere and the greens were pretty poor. If I remember rightly there were two 5th Holes? I enjoyed the day but not the best course

Just saw your message about your experience in Renmore pitch n putt. Was there myself this eve. Was on the putting green when this Ass on the first tee started shouting to hurry up. We then let him play through on next hole. He later shouted about not playing more than one shout from the bunker. A guy with long whiskers and wearing golf shoes and glove. Clearly thinks he is on a golf course. Just Wondering if it's same guy. Such a pity as I always enjoyed playing there. Don't think I will be back again for long time.

Seem to be the way in that place, I don't know who owns the course nor who runs it. Can't understand if you have money why you can't play, every pitch and putt i've ever played rents clubs and balls. Surely not everyone who plays owns their own!

I played there recently and you wouldn't want to be of a delicate disposition.

When we got there I spoke to the guy in charge and asked if would could pay green fees. He asked if we had our own clubs etc, which we had then he started on a rant about 'taking the fu*king pins out when putting' as he had a competition coming up. We paid and headed out.

On the fourth hole, which is beside the barracks football pitch, we see the guy walking towards us screaming 'HEY HEY, GET OUT YA FU*KIN AR*E BANDIT!' His dog had run into the pitch and he was trying to get her back. He walked right infront of us as we were about to tee off and screams at the dog for a few minutes.

He was out cutting grass for the rest of the round and you could hear him cursing and swearing at anything that moved. Then, when we were on the 12th, my playing partner thined a shot from about 5 feet and the guy screams 'CRAAAP' from the next green he was cutting. We just laughed about it, you'd be wasting your time trying to argue with him.

It's a lovely little course, close to town with cracking views. Pity about the guy who runs it.

I had to look online to verify whether anyone else had other negative experiences of this place and this guy considering how weird it was.
We rolled up the hut and yer man was inside sitting on the toilet with the door wide open, we waited outside at the counter while he did his business and then he came out to us (it goes without saying that he didn’t bother with any hand washing)...
He asked us what clubs we had and we told him that we just had a 9 iron, pitching wedge and putter, he then proceeded to instruct us to shove the 9 iron up our holes! We didn’t stay around much longer after that... I hope I never end up a bitter, aggressive dotard like this P&P guy!

I went there last year with my then 12 year old and he is as cantankerous as ever using foul language in front of kids. I’d love to know who owns this facility (I believe it’s the Irish Army) but he ain’t no soldier so what gives? It’s a nice place in a good location not sure how this fella can monopolise it

I passed him yesterday on Shop St. He was screaming at the top of his lungs at the poor thing.
