Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Home Recording Studio

It would be so good to have my own home recording studio! I have to get a four song demo done elsewhere, which is now underway, but I have more songs and new songs that I would really like to record from home as in the long run it's cheaper to prepare all work from a home studio, rather than sending everything out over time for demo preparation.

I did a little research and the following seems to be what I need, but I would appreciate any advise as to right or wrong?:

    a) I need a 2/3 input interface, (vocals, guitar, midi keyboard). Regarding a mic (from a few music blogs I've read) it seems that the SE 2200A, a large diaphragm condenser mic, is the one most suitable for vocals?

    b) Will this mic also do for a musician in to play guitar?

Budget is very limited so any links or contacts re home recording equipment for sale would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks for any help.

personally I would look at a digital audio interface - like an edirol fa101 - and an sm58. 300-400 euro in total or thereabouts, but combined with a computer is a decent home setup.

you'd also though have to look at room treatment, studio monitors etc etc as well.

A condenser mic is the way to go.

Check out MXL for vocal and instrument recording. It is very well priced and delivers great vocal results
