I'm looking to buy an affordable hybrid bike for commute journeys of about 5 to 6km.

I already have a nice racer for serious cycling, but looking for something for the daily commute to work and town, without having to worry too much about it being stolen.

Any opinions or pointers to hybrid bikes online or in store?

Also I've seen a Carrera Subway Hybrid offered second hand, any opinions on the suitability of this bike?

I bought a Mississippi gold rush for the same purpose it's fairly heavy but would do fine for 5-6km cost around 300-400 nice gears as well shimano tournez

PS got it in the LBS

l own a specialized crossroads comp and a Carrera Subway Hybrid and the carrera wins hands down for me, lovely bike that has given me great joy, it's gearing may me a bit low compared to the specialized but there is always someone who will blast past me on a carbon racer.
The only problem l have is the number of broken spokes and buckled wheels.
