    Hi everyone,
Looking to go away for a week in hopefully the start of August, we're both 23 and just wondering where the best place to go would be? Was looking at Greece but it seems a bit pricey.. Looking to pay about 400-500 for the holiday per person and looking for somewhere with good nightlife and lots to do... Any ideas?

Not the cheapest either, I visited Lisbon for 3 days and it was perfect, I wouldn't recommend it for a week in the sun though.

You could get to the Canaries for that kind of money, Lanzarote is nice enough for a couple. Good weather, cheap beer and food. And you can go on tours up to the volcanos on camels, catamaran trip, or the best night out we had there was to a drag show, can't remember the name but its very popular. Reps will tell you about it. I wouldn't bother with the water park there though, not great in comparison to others in similar European resorts.

Thanks guys :) We ended up booking Tenerife for the 1st week in August :) Booked Costa Del Silencio because it's just far enough from Playa De Las Americas to be a nice relaxing holiday but close enough that we can go there too :)

have a look at El Medano - lovely town out of the knacker and heckler zone but you could also still go there if you wished. Lovely bars and restos. Not too far from where you'll be so def check it out. Lots of stuff to do there - mountain biking, road cycling, diving, kitesufing. Would rent a car maybe if you can and go up to Mt. Tiede - Spain's highest peak!

Thanks Glasso will do :) Have been looking in to Costa Del Silencio a bit, doesn't seem to be very much happening there but Los Cristianos and Playa De Las Americas don't seem to be far away! Have found a bus route that goes to Los Cristianos too so won't need taxi's all the time, and there's also El Medano for us to look at :)

how did you book - flights and accom separately? if so you could just change accom to El Medano? It's a lovely place.

No unfortunately we booked on budgettravel.ie so unless we cancel the whole holiday and lose some money we're pretty screwed. I don't suppose you'd have much idea on how expensive taxi's are? or how reliable public transport would be from resort to resort? From what I've read, Costa Del Silencio is 15-20 mins away from Los Cristianos and a similar distance from Playa De Las Americas, so hopefully travel expenses won't be crazy.. (can't rent a car because we're both on prov licenses, and would like to not have to worry about not being able to drink anyway).

taxis are not that pricey there - can't remember exactly as didn't use them much but a lot cheaper than Dublin, for example. I would say 1/2 the price of dublin. should be reasonable for 2 or more people. you don't want to go out in Los C, Playa de las Amer anyways - it's a hole - seriously. one of the worst dump collection of bars that I've ever seen. go once to see for yourself :) Try El Medano instead.

Yeah I was somewhere else in Spain 2 years ago and kind of recall the taxi's being a hell of a lot cheaper than over here anyway. I've heard a couple of bad things about Playa De Las Americas alright but nothing bad until now about Los Cristianos, so that's another spot i'd probably want to stay away from? Is there much to do, night time wise in El Medano?

Well Los C is marginally better than Playa de las Americas but it's pretty similar - constant heckling of people trying to get you into their bar / resto which will have awful food and rubbish beer and drinks! Seriously after a 100m of a stretch of this it's a nightmare and you'll want to throttle the next heckler / flyer person that you see. The place is all fake and just annoying - an anti-holiday hellhole. Some bars even hire girls to hang around in the places to pretend they are normal customers to get guys in. El Medano has some restos open til 1am or so (Spanish eat late) and bars too that go on much later that are good but not sure about clubs - I haven't been there in July or Aug. But it's a good crowd, no heckling and good food and drinks.

Yeah between those people hanging outside clubs offering free shots and the Lucky Lucky men it can be a bit of a head wrecker! Some of the lucky lucky men can be good to have a laugh with but as you said, after a few of them it just becomes really irritating! I'll have to pay a visit to El Medano anyway :)

definitely go there. As I said nice restos and bars (a couple right over the water down by the harbour also which are very nice ) - not sure what you're looking for in terms of nightlife as a couple in any case :) ????
