British passport renewal

My UK passport is due for renewal & I note the cost from the British Embassy in Dublin is much higher than from the UK passport office.

Does anyone know if it's possible to have the replacement passport posted to a UK address to avail of the lower price?

If so, will the residential address on the application form be acceptable being outside of the UK?

Finally, how long does it take in each case?

    Thanks in advance.

4 weeks https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports/y/ireland/renewing_new/adult"]here , and they take a dim view of pulling fast ones nowdays

Would suggest the best option is the one day service in the UK if you are in a rush

You have to be in the UK at the time you apply, so I guess if you are visiting relatives you could nip down to the post office and get it done there.

Using the embassy in Dublin is quick though. I sent my daughter's renewal by registered post and got the new one back in about two weeks.

I got mine done at the Embassy .

IIRC it took about 1 week , cost a damn fortune though I was lucky enough to be able to expense it at the time .

Last time I just did it all using my address in the UK, but that was a few years ago now.
