D7000 SDHC Memory Management

    Hi all,

I just spotted a quirk of the D7000 and my mac, and Im not sure which is the culprit.

Ive formatted my 32GB SDHC card in the D7000. However when I put it into my mac and delete photos from the card, the camera doesnt see the free space although the photos are gone. So, I could just fill the card, delete the photos with the mac, and put the card back into the camera.. but it'll tell me theres no free space.

Is it normal to only have the option to delete from the camera itself in order for the camera to see the memory as clear to be written over?

When you copy the images over to your computer and put the card back in your camera, you have to format it, this will free up the space in the memory card!

Are you clearing your Mac's trash before removing the card? Putting them in there only flags them for deletion rather than actually deleting them.

Ok I'm with you. On an older camera I had, when I deleted the file on the card using the computer, the camera would automatically see that the photo was gone, and the memory would be automatically free.

I wasnt actually emptying the trash. I wonder will that sort it out. Thanks a lot, I'll give it a shot!
