    Hi all,

I am getting a new road bike. It is a Bianchi nirone. I am looking to get a hybrid type tire. I want the tire to last over 1 day, would want them to last at least a year. What would you suggest as a tire type.

    Thanks.

Schwalbe Marathon Plus are bomb proof albeit heavier than most other 'TYRES'. ;)

panaracer ribmo - heavy as well but highly puncture resistant

Hybrid type tyres? You mean the kind you'd find on a hybrid bike? Because they tend to just differ in size rather than the kind of tyre used.

Either way, marathon schwalbes are bombroof, panaracer rimbo and continental gatorskin are also well regarded. Beware that harder wearing tyres will generally be heavier and slower. Also, even crappy cheap tyres should last a while if you keep the air pressure topped up at the correct level (about 100psi but if varies depending on your weight and the exact tyre size).
Do you have a proper track pump?

The Bianchi Via Nirone 7 is shipped with Vittoria Zaffiro slicks. They're fine. Vittoria Rubino Pro are very good if you really feel the need to upgrade.

Marathon supremes are also pretty bomb proof and a good bit lighter, but cost more. For my road bike, I run Durano plus which have yet to puncture over the last 18 months, and I ride some pretty crappy roads.

Panaracer Paselas get my vote for a tough tyre. They are a decent bit lighter than the Marathons.

Agreed that the Durano+'s are great, but 18 months? I wore thru to the blue stuff in about 6 months. But they are nice and grippy in the wet, too, so I guess that's the price. I'm back on Marathon pluses now, they are very hard wearing.

You could me putting in much more distance; I did slightly over 5k last year on them. I'm also running 25mm at 100/90psi which could last slightly better (or not, pure guess). Haven't punctured the supremes on the hybrid yet in two years either.

    Thanks all for the replies.

Ya, its been a while since i was out cycling so I will be just getting back to it.
Both Schwalbe Marathon and Panaracer tires look good. I want something slim but strong. I don't mind the weight for now. I just want something that won't give me hassle when im on roads in the west of Ireland.
