Hi all, Just a quick question. I have a 09 Caddy TDI company van and has started making a noise from under the bonnet in recent days, maybe a week even.

This video sound exactly the same:

Im going to report it to the boss and would like to give him an opinion on what it is.

And for my own curiosty id like to know how this is caused.

Its on 220000Kms and had its belt and dmf replaced at around 165000kms.

    Cheers in advance :D

Hard to tell but it could hydraulic lifter, expensive job to put right if there on the way out.

Does it always make the sound, only when hot or cold?

    +1

My suspicions would lead me to believe a lifter is on it's way out.

Do check it, don't want this happening....

    cheers for the replies!

It only starts to make noise when up to temperature, especially when its been driven for a good few miles.

The ticking is in sync with the engine speed (higher rpm, quicker ticking and vice versa)

Is this a regular thing or is it down to the driver
