WBP Eucalyptus plywood

    Hi Folks,

I want to order 3/4 inch WBP ply from a particular hardware and they told me they currently only have WBP Eucalyptus plywood (from Uruguay). This does seem like good ply and has a good thick veneer, but on one side only. The other side is left rough and you can see knots etc.

The ply I got off them previously which had a veneer on both sides. The salesman said the ply I previously (Chinese Ply) got would not be as good as the Eucalyptus plywood.

I want to use this ply for flooring in an old stone outhouse (could get a little damp inside on occassions) . The joists will not be slabbed.

The Eucalyptus is actually a bit more expensive but he is giving it at the same price as I got the previous ply.

I am just wondering if anyone has any views on this Eucalyptus plywood or have used it?

    Tom

Now that I think of it, the man salesman said that the Eucalyptus was class 3 as opposed to the chinese stuff, which was class 2.

I did notice the chinese stuff did tend to be a little bubbled on maybe one side.

I am wondering would say the likes of woodworm etc find it easy to infest the Eucalyptus seeing as it has no veneer on one side.

Generally the chemicals used in the adhesive will contain some degree of pesticide. Plywood isn't usually that prone to infestation by insects.
