Getting married the end of June 2013. We had no plans for a honeymoon straight away due to work commitments but now we have our time off , we're heading off the end of July for 2 weeks .

We had planned for Mexico but with hurricane season starting June and rain on a pretty much daily basis , we are looking for some other ideas.

    Budget is 3k to 3.5k

    Thanks in advance guys

So, beaches, heat, different cultures, ancient history? Romance is light to pack, so its just the setting.
Paris perhaps, it empties out about then so Apts. are a steal. TGV south for some of it on beaches. Every queue is a day long but its a beautiful vibrant city.
Siena is good - Borgo Grondaie is a beautiful place to stay. Ryanair to Pisa and train - change at Empoli. Borgo is a short walk from the train and bus station. Bus to Rome is easy too for a day. Pisa is nice but a city that doesn't seem to think much of itself. The tower is book in advance.
Staying on Italy, RA to Treviso and train from Venice Mestrae to ... Verona....Trieste...even Venice or all of them. If you do visit Venice stay there for a night or two - much better at night when the vaparetto don't look like refugee boats full of day visitors. Walk the streets that look like cracks in the wall and only eat in noisy restaurants - locals know where to eat.
Spain, south coast is easy to get to and plenty of beaches. Hire a car and spend some time in Cadiz and/or Seville. Perhaps a ferry to Ceuta for a day on the north African coast - but Spanish held so no visas needed. Seville rivals Paris for wow.
    hope that helps.

June/July .... pretty much doubt mexico will have rain, but if you want to avoid that area due to the hurricane belt.

california ... west coast of USA San Francisco, LA, if the budget will stretch goto Hawaii.

Canary Islands offer year round sunshine - it may not be the most exotic of destinations ...but if its sun you are after it'll do.

you could also go on Safari (might need an extra week and possibly another 1K).

these are a list of countries/areas recommended for July travel - for good weather (according to a US website):
    Bermuda
    Canada
    Europe
    Fiji
    French Polynesia
    Madagascar
    Malaysia
    Mauritius
    N. USA & Alaska
    Seychelles
    South Africa
    Thailand

it also says these have all-year around good weather:
Brazil - Central Africa - Hawaii

so it really comes down to what you actually want to do on honeymoon .... do you want adventure sports ? sightseeing ? relaxing spa treatments ? sunshine ? beaches ? romantic dinners on the beach ?

if you are into Diving/snorkelling there are lots of places to go, if you are into sightseeing - visiting places of cultural heritage, learning about another countries customs and stuff like that.... loads of places around the world that can provide that.

As with all holidays ... the more research you put into it the more chances you will find/create the honeymoon that is perfect for you.

we're getting married in late August and Honeymooning in Sept - we've travelled quite a bit so ...she wants sunshine, romantic setting and nice beaches, I want to go diving and snorkelling - so we're off to French Polynesia and Cook Islands (Humpback whales calf around moorea April until November so there's a chance we'll see some and hopefully snorkle with them, there's also a lot of sea turtles and sharks in the area - which I love when diving) .... its a postcard picture place ...so beaches are lovely and temps will be mid 20's in September, little or no chance of rain.
I've been in touch with whaling experts on both Islands where we will be visiting and have been googling about what other activities are available to us, we'll have some relaxing beach time, poolside bar etc.

our alternative was Europe but we figure we can travel to places in Europe and explore countries closer to us after we get married.... chances are if we get pregnant on honeymoon this could be our last big trip !!

if you do opt for mexico ... this might help http://www.holiday-weather.com/cancun/averages/july

you are in the lucky position of actually being able to check what temps are like in the country you want to goto during the next month .... you can also check out what flowers are in bloom (for selection for your wedding) ... and what deals will be on offer if you wait till the last minute - I did read on boards a few days ago that there was a special offer on Hawaii return flights for around €500 travel in August/Sept/Oct ... thats a fantastic price if you can get it. (hawaii is a very expensive place to stay though)

Just to clear a point on budget - the amount mentioned - is it absolute and include spending money? You will need some with you for some of the finer things in life where ever you are - specially on honeymoon.

What about Croatia? A beautiful country with lovely beaches and maybe a few days in Dubrovnik which is a beautiful romantic city. There is a little seaside town called Cavtat which is near Dubrovnik and you can get the ferry over and back so you get a good mixture of beach and city. I have never stayed in that little town but I know a few people who stayed there and loved it.

Would the idea of a cruise appeal to you ? It isn't for everyone but you would get to see a lot of places and you could maybe do a crusie one week and then beach for another I think your budget would cover it We got our cruise for about €2400 that included flights transfers and all the food you can eat and you still have a 1000 left for a lazy week by the beach.

It was on the cruise that I visited Dubrovnik and fell in love with it just hoping some day to go back and spend more time there.
