Are these weeds or plants?

    Hello

Doing some tidying up outside. Does anyone know what the plant to the front of the first picture is? Is it a weed? I have no idea.

It seems to be spreading rapidly across the gravel too. It must be a weed!

    Help.

    Thanks

just a small pedantic correction - weeds are plants. just plants in the wrong place.

I stand corrected :) These things are taking over the garden and the driveway. Are they considered a weed?

You have some strawberry plants (Some showing white flower petals yellow centre) and what looks like willow herb (I believe it to be called this) a waxy narrow leaf and a pain in the A$$ to get rid off.

Thanks! Yes its a problem to get rid of because there are dozens of tiny plants scattered all over the driveway (and its a long one). Should I resort to chemicals?

Looks like fireweed. It's normally easy enough to pull due to shallow roots.

While the weather is dry if you just stir the gravel with a hoe or rake to loosen the small plants they will shrivel up. The bigger ones are easy enough to pull - I speak from experience of the last couple of days!

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I'm in the same boat... My planting, back in March, got a bit random, so I'm not sure exactly what I planted where. I suspect that these two might be weeds but I'm not sure - the other alternative is that they are gourds. Any thoughts?

The top one is some sort of a brassica weed, the bottom one is campion, neither of which are going to give you veggies! There appears to be a row of seedlings behind the brassica, the small, darker green leaves. Not sure about that, but I am pretty sure that unless there are some parsnips in there, most of the rest is weeds.

Thanks everyone. I guess its called fireweed because it spreads like wild fire! I will rake up what I can while the going is good......
