D3200 and D5200 are the newer Nikons. And what is wrong with starting with the kit lens?

Hi I too want to buy a camera and was looking at Nikon Coolpix p520 or a canon one. which would be better for a beginner on a low budget but good camera?:)

Am new to dslr , got a canon 600 d , for Christmas , great camera for newbies , menus well layed out on screen , easy to get hang of.

I recommend the Pentax K500 or K50 depending on your budget...
