Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I need to do an ECDL course over the summer and finish before the end of august. I have had a look about it on-line but I've read mix reviews on internet. Does any one have any info on their on-line course and exams??
    Thank You

If you are unemployed FAS will give it with no fee. Its fairly easy, if you are anyway savvy with the computer and Office you should have no problems.

In my opinion the only thing that you could find very tricky are databases as they are not commonly used. Otherwise it's grand.

You'll learn lots of useful stuff like the capacity of a floppy-disk in megabytes  ! Groundbreaking stuff.

A doctor once told me that talking about the ECDL was bad for my blood pressure, and I should avoid it. And when I was teaching computers with NALA, ECDL books weren't allowed even near the building.

I also knew a class of business studies students that all lost marks in their Junior Cert exam because they all [correctly] said that a monitor was an output device, not an input device. Why is this stuff even a question? The sooner we stop pretending that committees of the unwilling, chosen from the unfit to do the unnecessary are the people to have in charge of this stuff the better.

BOT, yeah, only databases would be tricky. Get a good book and you'll fly through most of it. It's basically a money-making scam to get you to pay for ''training.''
