That build looks good to me.

1155 CPU coolers work with the new 1150 socket

This monitor looks good in that price range.

The WD black is an old drive. They haven't updated this line in a while.
Go for the blue, it's actually a faster drive, although the warranty is just 2 years.

Socket 1156, 1155 and 1150 heatsinks should all be inter-compatible.

I'm surprised cpu cooler manufacturers didn't label their coolers as 1150 compatible months ago when it was known that they would work.

They probably have to clear a big backlog in their warehouses. Heatsinks are the sort of thing that don't lose value much so you can buy them in bulk. Probably costs a bit to be changing around descriptions everywhere too.

Most likely, once one or two change it, everyone will rush to update them as people who aren't fully aware will just pick the ones that are listed as compatible.

If there's a bit of money left over, given that it's a high end build, you could consider the 256GB Samsung 840 pro instead. It's quite a bit more expensive, so I wouldn't put it at high priority. You should save a few euro going from the WD black to blue at least.

intels brutal NDA pretty much blocks all mention on CPU, CPU codenames, chipsets and socket type until release

luckily for us their many suppliers are **** at keeping a secret

Super build. Are you planning to add a second GPU in the future?

You could take a 2tb seagate barracuda for only a little more than the 1tb wd black. Bigger drives have faster transfer rates anyway. No point paying for a smaller driver with faster rates.

I wouldn't bother with the 840 pro either. The performance isn't much different. Read's are around the same, writes are a good bit faster with the pro but the majority of work will be reads anyway. The nand is also more durable but tests on the cheaper nand in the 840 are proving it have enough durability for many years of use.

The Be-quiet dark rock pro 2 has almost identical performance to the noctua nh d14 if you prefer the looks. It's also cheaper.

Don't forget that random reads are a bit faster with the 840 Pro too, which is important if you want a good, responsive SSD. Whether it's that noticeable in reality is another question. However, if you've got a high end build like this, you might as well get one of the best SSDs out there if you're happy with the other core parts of your build.

The 2TB Seagate is the same speed as the 1TB (actually sometimes worse as Seagate occasionally sells 3 platter drives instead of newer 2x1TB platters, same model number) - Which is much the same as the 1TB blue. All are faster than the black. But if you were to only use half of the drive, the speeds would be faster on the 2TB. Or if you actually intend to use 2TB, then they are pretty good value.

Marginally and it won't be noticeable at all. It's not worth the price premium imo. The money could be spent better elsewhere.

Op have you considered sli 660's? They would outperform that 770 by quite a bit and cost €70 less.

I prefer this board as well. Better styling and better onboard sound for the same price.

If you really wanted you could use the money saved from a normal 840 and 660's to get a good sound card.

Well i plan to buy a second 770 a few months after i build the system. I had a 840 non pro in my old build but was told to change it to the pro so I will have to look into it my self as there are so many diffrent opinions.

I'd imagine it's jealousy. Or you stole his girlfriend.

    Here's 840 vs 840 Pro.
    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/678?vs=665
I suppose the only thing that's not really included there is that it's built on different technology which can impact on lifetime (not a big factor as we're still talking about a long time) and that performance degrades if you don't leave enough space for it to cycle around different parts of the drive.

Bloodbath's right alright, that writing speeds are not as important as read speeds as we don't write to drives as often as we might think. You're not going to go wrong with either drive. I just think that a high end build should have a high end SSD to match, so long as you're happy with the rest of the components. The increased random read speed is probably the best thing you have over the non-pro 840 as well as a more rapid restore to full performance after you delete data.

It's up to you, but I won't say any more about unless you specifically ask as I think I'm starting to sound pushy about it.

Well I am up for going all out :D My last build was a budget AMD build so I want to get the top of the range and I dont mind spending the extra money as the 660 sli doenst really appeal to me since I plan to sli 770s and I did wait a month for the 4g i5 and 700 series so it would kinda suck to drop back down to the 660s.

If you are going to sli 770's then you should be going 1440p as it's a complete waste of money for 1080p.

Definitely go for the msi. It's the better of the 2 boards.

You can get them on ebay from Korea for about €350 including duty. There are some risks though as returning a faulty item is not as easy as a retailer based in Europe.
