Repeating or appealing a FETAC module??

I got my results and I got two distinctions and the rest were merits in Media Production. Now I am very happy with that alone, but I am annoyed over the fact that I could have done better if I put in effort myself, but was hard at the same time when teachers were making it more complicated than it actually was, looking back on the year now. But I am happy that it was not a waste of a year at least,

So I have three things to ask: Now that I have a better mindset of studying and so on, I was just wondering if it was possible to repeat single modules form my course if I wanted to, or do you have to repeat the whole thing?

If I appeal for some of my modules, could there be chance that when they look at them, they might think "Actually, she should have gotton a pass" and bring me down? I'd be terrified to do that, I mean could that actually do that if it seems I should have gotton a pass?

With college, does anyone know of any course that could accept my results? It's just the majority of course I have come across seem to want three or more distinctions. (Or can they add your LC points and FETAC points together?)

Any help with be appreciated, thanks.

Hey man, just thought I'd share my experience as I'm in the exact same situation as you.

Basically, I got two Distinctions and the rest Merits. I was a bit disappointed but was reassured by various teachers and the career guidance teacher that these were good results and would easily get me a place in a level 7 course. I was satisfied enough until I heard about the appeal process and decide to appeal 2 modules which I expected distinctions in. However, upon asking to see my results in % terms ( to see how far off a Distinction 80%, I was) I was greatly surprised and annoyed at the same time. Three of my Merits were all 2 % of the criteria for a distinction. Three of my modules were 78%, which was painstakingly close. So, at the cost of 120 Euro, I appealed three of them. Realistically, I only expect one to be overturned, but you never know. I was also informed that the grades can only go up and can not go down. So, Rox5 my advice is find our the %s you got and take ir from there. Despite the steep cost of appealing it is worth it for peace of mind.

Also, I agree that teachers in Fetac courses can grade very harshly, or even personally if they feel like it, and that is why the option for appealing exists. By the way, I'm not trying to accuse any Fetac teachers of not doing a good job as there are many great teachers out there, but one in particular, was absolutely rigid in her grading system and teaching methods and has been the source of numerous complaints from students ans teachers in the school I attended. Furthermore, when I informed my teacher I intended to appeal she asked how old I was (what ever that had to do with it?) and I told her I was 20 to which she replied, "Oh, you're only young, I would give you the three extra distinctions now if I could". Why not just give them at the time?

Honestly, remember Rox5 that teachers are not superior creatures that shouldn't be questioned and don't forget to look out for yourself. It's been a week since I appealed and I'll let toy know as soon as I find out whether they were successful.

    Good luck Rox5 and appeal.
